While watching this documentary on fracking and what it means – the process of injecting liquid at high pressure into the ground so as to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas – I was surprised that it was happening not in one small area of the US but across the whole country.
Congress talked about the Frac Act and contaminated water. They discussed how drilling of natural gas was hurting the health of the people and how the people who were fracking weren’t being honest how they frack because all they care about is profit. Cases that were made was that the chemicals safe for people and that the chemical fluids cannot be blamed for the chemical contamination. Many of the chemicals that have been found in the tap water include hydrochloric acid, formaldehyde, citric acid, potassium chloride and many more. The chemicals themselves aren’t harmful because your body produces them for you but when an increase of these chemicals happen it can cause harm to your body. Inhaling or consuming any type of chemical that is not regulated by government in any way is potentially harmful. Any form of chemicals placed into the environment it is a risk to the water supply if it’s not properly regulated which is what has been happening across the US.
Many people now that contamination of any kind can be harmful and you wouldn’t want it to expand, especially in other countries, because it can create a worldwide fresh water contamination problem. And with the little drinkable freshwater that we have, contaminating should be a solution for different problems.
